As dengue cases break record, citizens say MC indifferent
Ludhiana: With dengue cases reaching 965, breaking last year’s record of 755 positive cases reported from Ludhiana district, residents have been complaining about less fogging being done in their areas, as more and more cases of dengue are being reported.
District epidemiologist Dr Ramesh Kumar said: “The cases this year have shot up suddenly after mid-September.
1x1 polls
There were around 30-35 cases up to mid-September, but now they have reached up to 965. Every day, more than 50 samples are being sent. Even now, we are apprehensive that cases can shoot up, and residents need to take all preventive measures.”
Ravinder Arora from Model Town Extension said: “Perhaps, fogging has been done here only once so far. So many cases are being reported, so fogging should have been more intensive.” Ramita from Pakhowal Road said: “Two of my family members were down with dengue fever, and we specially called people to get fogging done. Now, we are ourselves regularly calling up the civic authorities to get fogging done.” Shavy Ahuja from Dugri said: “After seeing so many dengue cases, we called up the authorities to make sure fogging was done in our area, so that there are no mosquitoes left behind.”
